Context
Aufstehen ("stand up") emerged in the summer of 2018 as a response to the rise of right-wing parties in Germany.
Process
That autumn, the movement opened a Polis conversation to its members to understand where broad consensus could be built — and to shape its platform around what people actually agreed on.
Results
With 33,547 participants, it still holds the record for the most people ever in a single Polis conversation — a vivid demonstration of how technology can bring fresh ideas into the democratic process.
