How it works

Three steps to collective intelligence

No moderators, no turn-taking, no shouting matches. Polis lets thousands of people think together — simultaneously.

1

Write statements

Participants contribute short, seed statements about the topic. Anyone can add their perspective — there's no character limit on ideas, just on individual statements.

"Public transit should be free for students."
"We need more bike lanes downtown."
2

Vote on everything

Each participant votes — agree, disagree, or pass — on statements written by others. The algorithm prioritizes the most informative statements for each voter.

3

See the consensus

Polis runs PCA on the vote matrix and clusters participants into opinion groups. The result: a real-time map of who agrees with whom — and the ideas everyone shares.

Capabilities

Built for real-world deliberation

Real-time clustering

Watch opinion groups form as participants vote. Polis uses PCA and k-means to reveal the hidden structure of a conversation — live, as votes stream in.

Consensus surfacing

Automatically identify the statements that bridge divides — the ideas that every group agrees on, even when they disagree on everything else.

Global scale

Deployed by governments and institutions in 50+ countries. From a class of 30 to a nation of millions — the math scales.

vTaiwan: from protest to policy

Born from the Sunflower Movement, vTaiwan used Polis to give 200,000+ citizens a direct voice in national policy. The result: legislation on ride-sharing, telemedicine, and online alcohol sales — shaped by collective intelligence, not lobbying.

"Polis allowed us to move beyond the loudest voices in the room."
— Audrey Tang, Former Digital Minister, Taiwan
